Many people try to have an all in one format. I tried this in previous years and failed. The reason is that my work as a consultant, combined with my broad interests and my requirements to collaborate don’t add up for one system.

In 2024, I committed to this digital brain in the internet. This is my collection of knowledge. I would say it’s a kind of digital brain, but I don’t use it in the traditional sense.

I loved the article by SSP.sh on PKM workflow for a deeper life. Which gave me the key insight to see your life as many digital brains:

By the way: Your contacts in google, your password tool, email, all of it are also second brains. So you do not need to have only one.

So my current ‘brains’ are:

  1. Obisidian: this is my modern knowledge library that anyone can read into. This is about professional topics. It’s public, through Quartz I this digital Garden. Pure zettelkasten format, linked notes. No folders and grouping.
  2. Day one: This is my journal. My daily notes. My experiences. These are sometimes connected, bust mostly just a running memory of my life. Grouped by Daily (daily experience),Top Secret (really private, encrypted and password), Compliments (nice things people say), Gifts - Cards (I keep cards people send me), Goals-Rewards (my goal setting - tracking high level ambitions)
  3. Gmail: All my email and communications go through here. I use the search a lot. Many filters are used for auto processing attachments.
  4. Things 3: This is my task manager. I strictly adhere to some GTD / Things 3 Rulebook. I keep it as clean as possible with only in sight what is actionable right now. Client can get their own note in my Google Drive if they are very complex, with key milestones. I then share those with my clients.
  5. Google Drive: all files are stored here, including client meeting notes and contracts. For my core work, I do not use my library. I use the PARA system here. Each project corresponds to the Things 3 Projects, and during weekly review I check if projects are done and can be archived.

So there you go! my full digital workflow, with a touch of PKM. So in this garden, you’ll find my public library, based on zettelkasten.
